ChatGPT Catfishing: Bored Bengaluru Bumble User’s AI-Generated Profile Of Girl Gets Over 2000 Hits in 2 Hours
Remember when friends used to catfish their gullible mates on Facebook and Orkut by creating fake profiles? Now you don't even need a mitramandali to pull off a scam. AI tools like ChatGPT, with their ever-evolving text, image, and video generation capabilities, make it easier for users to become certified scammers with the help of a few shrewd prompts. In the latest episode of AI-generated abomination, a Bumble user in Bengaluru generated a fake profile of a girl, which he claims got over 2000 hits within two hours.
In a series of tweets, the user remarked that after he generated “some super realistic AI-generated pics of a girl (on ChatGPT 4o), then came the evil idea.” The man proceeded to make a dating profile with the AI pics. Imagine if it had a similitude of someone you knew.
Anyways, the individual claims 2750+ likes within 2 hours with hundreds of superswipes and people writing tomes in compliment. He further remarked, “Guys offered me ice cream, concert tickets, and whatnot. men's loneliness epidemic? Nah, it’s a full-blown apocalypse. It took Bumble 12 hours to shut it down.” He dubbed the experience “lowkey scary.”

Here’s how the internet reacted to the scoop on X/Twitter. “Remember, kids, dating apps are designed to keep you there as long as possible. The statistical probability you find love there is an iota of the real world,” wrote one. Another user remarked, “I am more concerned about the fact that how easy it is to fool these platforms and make accounts out of anything.” “where will the youth of this country go?” wondered another user..
